Wilpattu is defined by its villu lakes – natural circular water holes in the forest that attract wildlife throughout the day. Far fewer visitors than Yala, and a very different atmosphere: dense dry forest, lake reflections and a quality of quiet wilderness that is increasingly rare in accessible wildlife parks.
