The deep-water canyon off Mirissa is one of the world’s most reliable blue whale migration corridors. Pre-dawn boat departure, out beyond the headland into deep water, and then – on a good morning – a blue whale surfacing. Sperm whales and spinner dolphin pods are regular company. Outside whale season, Polhena Reef has resident hawksbill turtles.
